View over Porthleven Harbour |
Fishing trips and coastal cruises aboard the Danda and Starfish from the picturesque harbour of Porthleven. The village has a shingle beach that runs for approximately two miles in a south-easterly direction to the neighbouring village of Gunwalloe. Set half way along the beach is the south west’s largest natural lake, "Loe Pool". The lake is separated from the sea by the infamous "Loe Bar". The Bar produces many bass during the summer months but they can also be caught during the winter. Cod, whiting, conger and dab can be found during the colder months with ray and pollack available all year round. The harbour plays host to species such as pollack, wrasse and flatfish, with occasional mackerel and garfish. Just a couple of miles along the coast to the north-west lies Rinsey Head. There is a small beach where you can find bass and ray, and along the rocks there are plenty of mackerel, garfish, pollack and wrasse to keep you occupied. Please be aware of the sea conditions before planning any angling trips, as our coast, like many others, can be treacherous when the conditions are rough. Also, could you please keep our coast tidy and take your litter home.
